Fireworks are Illegal in Moore
With Independence Day approaching this week, Moore city officials want to remind residents that it is illegal to purchase, possess, manufacture or use fireworks in the Moore city limits without a permit.
“It’s a matter of safety for property owners,” Fire Chief Gary Bird said, “Another issue associated with fireworks, is people are often hurt in accidents. Safety is a must with fireworks.”
There are places in Oklahoma where discharging fireworks is lawful, but not in Moore, Bird said.
There is a fine of $269 associated with the unlawful discharge of fireworks, and the fireworks will be confiscated. The ordinance is enforced by the Moore Police Department and Moore Fire Marshal’s Office. Permits are only issued to State Licensed pyrotechnic companies.
For details, contact the Fire Marshal’s office at (405) 793-5110.
